# Churchill County Farms Outside Fallon: Options and Questions

Churchill County has a local fiber company that says 98% of the county is already fiber-connected, a Census count of about 823 households with no internet, and a wireless option that starts with an address check. Compare options at your own address before you decide.

Fallon and the farms around it are in a different position from most rural Nevada. A long-established local company has built fiber across much of the county. That is good news for many households, and it changes the questions for the rest. This guide lays out the Census figures, the dated filings, the company's own words and the state's BEAD entries.

## Takeaways

- Churchill County: 89.8% of households report an internet subscription; 8.6%, about 823 households, report none (ACS 2020-2024).
- CC Communications says on its site that “98% of Churchill County is already fiber-connected” (read 10/15/26); it publishes no prices.
- In FCC filings of June 2021, fixed wireless providers reported service on thousands of Churchill County blocks; High Desert is not in that file.
- The state's BEAD list names Fallon (Hot Spot Broadband), Sheckler Reservoir and Stillwater in Churchill County, all provisional.

## What do the Census numbers show?

The American Community Survey (2020-2024, 5-year, table B28002) counts 25,805 people and 9,516 households in Churchill County. Median household income is $79,163 and 20.2% are 65 or older. Of households, 89.8% report an internet subscription, 79.1% report cable, fiber or DSL, 83.7% report a cellular plan, 6.2% (about 591 households) report satellite, and 8.6% report no internet access, which is about 823 households.

In Fallon itself the figures are 92.5% with a subscription, 78.2% cable, fiber or DSL, 4.6% satellite and 7.2% with none. The county's no-internet share is higher than Lyon County's 4.5% or Washoe County's 5.6%, and farms outside the city are a likely place to find it.

## What did providers report in 2021?

The FCC's Form 477 data for June 2021, the last release before the National Broadband Map, lists who reported service at the census block level. In Churchill County it shows CC Communications fiber on 770 blocks at up to 1,000 Mbps each way and its DSL on 436 more, Charter cable on 817 blocks, geostationary satellite providers on about 3,000 blocks, and several fixed wireless filers. High Desert is not in the 2021 file. That file is dated, and a reported block does not mean every address in it can order.

For today's view, use the FCC map. Our [guide to checking providers at an address](https://hdiss.net/guides/check-which-providers-reach-your-address/) shows how, and [the challenge guide](https://hdiss.net/guides/challenge-the-fcc-map/) covers a wrong listing.

## What does the local fiber company say about itself?

CC Communications, based in Fallon, states on its website (read 10/15/26) that it is “deploying fiber optic networks,” that “98% of Churchill County is already fiber-connected,” and that it offers “symmetrical fiber speeds (where available).” It does not publish prices; its site asks you to use its address lookup. Those are the company's statements, and they are a good reason to start there if your address is inside its footprint.

If its lookup says your address is not covered, or you want to compare, a wireless provider may fit. Rules about what you pay and how to leave are the same questions as anywhere; see [the question list](https://hdiss.net/guides/questions-to-ask-any-internet-provider/).

## What does the state's BEAD list name?

For Churchill County, OSIT's Final Proposal data (page last updated 07/28/2026) lists three projects: Fallon, with Hot Spot Broadband as subgrantee and estimated performance ending 11/30/2026; and two smaller entries, Sheckler Reservoir and Stillwater, each listed with Amazon Kuiper and estimated performance ending 01/31/2027. All are provisional and subject to federal review, and project names do not list addresses.

See the [Churchill County data page](https://hdiss.net/data/churchill-county/) for the table. High Desert is not a BEAD subgrantee.

## What matters on a farm?

Ask for a survey of the main building and the path across your own land: shelterbelts, silos, grain bins and shop roofs all block radio. Plan outbuildings separately; [this guide](https://hdiss.net/guides/wifi-to-a-shop-barn-or-guest-house/) covers it. If you irrigate, tall crops can change the path through the season, so mention it.

To see what a High Desert connection would involve at your address, send the address through the check form. Someone reads the path from the nearest tower to your roof and phones you with what they see. The plans are Bronze $50 a month (up to 500 Mbps down), Silver $75 (up to 800) and Gold $99 (up to 1 Gig), each with up to 200 Mbps up. Or call 775-575-9593 any day from 9 to 5.

## Questions people ask

### Should I use the local fiber company if it reaches me?

That is your choice to make from the facts: its price, terms and your needs. Ask for the price in writing, because the site publishes none.

### Does the 2021 file show today's providers?

No. It is a dated snapshot. The FCC's current map is the better starting point.
