Business districts

  • Sun Valley Boulevard and the shops and service businesses along it.
  • Neighborhood side streets, where a home business runs from a garage or a spare room.
  • Mobile home parks and small lots, where several households may share one property owner.

Sun Valley sits next to Sparks, and its working life is mostly small: the contractor with a truck in the driveway, the mobile detailer, the person who sells online from a spare room. The Census count of workplaces is modest, and the count of home-based work is not visible in it at all.

How big is the Sun Valley business base?

151 establishments and 1,084 employees (U.S. Census Bureau, ZIP Code Business Patterns 2023) is about a quarter of the Stead ZIP's workplace count and under a tenth of its employees. Only 4.5 percent of workers, 437 of 9,651, report working from home, below Nevada's 11.9 percent, and the average commute is 25.9 minutes (ACS 2020-2024, tables B08301 and B08303). Most people here leave town to work, and many of those who stay run something small.

Why do manufactured homes matter for a business line?

Because 51.5 percent of Sun Valley's housing is manufactured homes, against 5.2 percent for Nevada (ACS 2020-2024, table B25024), and a roof antenna may need a park owner's permission. The manufactured homes page explains the question to ask first, and the OTARD guide describes the FCC rule on small antennas and its limits. Ask before the site survey, not after.

Where do Sun Valley homes stand on internet today?

Of Sun Valley's households, 66.8 percent report a cable, fiber or DSL type subscription, 9.9 percent satellite and 15.4 percent a phone data plan only, and 10.4 percent, 721 households, report none (ACS 2020-2024, table B28002). The no-subscription share is about twice Nevada's 5.3 percent. For a small business that works on a phone, a dependable second line is a real question.

What upload does a small trades business use?

Estimates, invoices and job photos all travel out of the house. Every High Desert plan lists up to 200 Mbps up, which is generous for that work. The home businesses page sets out the data limit sentence in the agreement and the questions to ask about it.

How do I ask about my address?

Send the Sun Valley street address and a person looks at the path from the nearest tower to the building, then calls you back; if it looks clear, a technician confirms it on site in Sun Valley. The Sun Valley page and the 89433 page show the town and ZIP figures.

What do income and home offices look like in Sun Valley?

In Sun Valley the median household income is about $77,000 and 4.5 percent of workers 16 and over work from home, about 440 people (Census Bureau, ACS 2020-2024 5-year, tables B19013 and B08301, pulled October 16, 2026). For a sole trader or a bookkeeper working from a house in Sun Valley, the upload number matters as much as the download, because that is what video calls and backups use.

Every speed is an up-to figure. What you see depends on the path from the tower to your roof, how many people are online and your Wi-Fi router. Each plan has a data transfer limit; ask us for yours at info@hdiss.net.

Ask about 1 Gig / 1 Gig.

Our ultra-low-latency service with upload as fast as download, in some areas. Check your address and tick "Ask about 1 Gig / 1 Gig" and we will tell you if your address can get it. About the 1 Gig / 1 Gig service.

Prices and speeds as published by High Desert Internet Services (hdiss.net, read 10/15/26). "Runs" lines use the FCC Household Broadband Guide and Broadband Speed Guide (fcc.gov), which the FCC calls rough guidelines; every High Desert plan is above the FCC's highest household band of more than 25 Mbps. Questions people ask

Still have a question? Call 775-575-9593, 9 to 5 every day.

Can a home business use a residential plan?

The plans are listed for homes and small businesses. Ask about any special use, such as a public hotspot, when you call.

Do I need the park owner's permission for an antenna?

Ask before the survey. The FCC rule covers small antennas on space you control, with exceptions, and your lease decides what is yours.

Does the 151 count include home businesses?

It counts establishments with employees on file. A one-person business run from a house usually does not appear in it.
