Northern Nevada internet data

This section holds ten datasets built from public sources: Census Bureau figures on how homes get online, FCC provider reports from 2021 and ZIP business counts. Each page shows the table, reads it in words and offers a CSV download.

We publish the numbers because they help anyone deciding where and how to get online, whether or not they use our service. Every table says where it came from and when.

What are the ten datasets?

The county pages show, for each county, how many households have an internet subscription, how many rely on a cellular plan alone, how many use satellite and how many have no internet at all. See Washoe, Lyon, Storey, Churchill, Carson City and Douglas.

The regional tables rank places so you can see patterns: satellite reliance, homes without internet and working from home. The last table, the FCC Form 477 providers table, lists who reported service in each county as of June 2021. High Desert Internet does not appear in it under its own name, so it describes the other options and says nothing about our footprint.

There is also a state project list for the federal rural broadband program: High Speed NV and BEAD projects, marked provisional.

How should I cite the data?

Cite the source named on each page, such as U.S. Census Bureau, ACS 2020-2024 5-year, table B28002, and link to the page you used. The CSV downloads are the tables exactly as built, so you can check our work. Small places carry wide margins of error, which is why we say about and avoid ranking two small places against each other.

What do the numbers not tell you?

The Census survey has no line for fixed wireless, so homes using it sit under other headings. The FCC 2021 table is a dated snapshot. Neither one says whether a given address can be served. For that, use the address check or the FCC's National Broadband Map at https://broadbandmap.fcc.gov.
