Privacy Policy
Effective: October 15, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how High Desert Internet Services ("High Desert Internet," "HDISS," "we," "us" or "our") collects, uses, discloses, retains and protects information about you when you visit hdiss.net (the "Site"), send us a message or ask through a form, use our "before you go" call-back panel, chat with Relay, our website chat assistant, call us, or otherwise contact us through the Site. It is also the privacy notice we post under Nevada's online privacy law, NRS 603A.300 to 603A.360. Please read it carefully. By using the Site or contacting us through it, you acknowledge that you have read and understood the practices described in this Policy. If you do not agree with them, please do not use the Site; you can still call us at 775-575-9593, 9 to 5 every day. Our Terms of Use and Accessibility Statement also apply to your use of the Site.
1. Who we are and what this Policy covers
Operator. The Site is operated by High Desert Internet Services (HDISS), a locally owned fixed wireless internet provider based in Northern Nevada and open since 2002. We provide internet access to homes and small businesses by microwave radio from our towers to an antenna on the customer's building, and we offer web hosting, customer email and webmail, and domain registration. Our mailing address is High Desert Internet Services, Billing Dept., PO Box 11353, Reno, Nevada 89510. We are a service-area business: our technicians come to you, and the Site does not describe a walk-in location. You can reach us by telephone at 775-575-9593 or 775-391-5660, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM seven days a week, or by email at info@hdiss.net.
Scope. This Policy applies to personal information we collect through the Site, including its forms, the "before you go" call-back panel, our website chat assistant, the telephone numbers shown on the Site, and the emails the Site sends and receives on our behalf, and to other communications that refer to this Policy.
What this Policy does not cover. This Policy does not govern the practices of third parties we do not control, such as Google, Cloudflare, review platforms, social media platforms or other websites we link to, even if you reach them from the Site. Information you give us by telephone, and information we collect while checking an address, installing or servicing your connection, or providing your internet, hosting or email service, is handled in the ordinary course of our business and is also covered by the sections of this Policy that describe how we use, share, keep and protect information.
How the Site works. The Site is built and managed for us by YelloPost, our website and marketing provider, and is hosted on servers in the United States. The Site does not offer user accounts or logins, does not accept online payments itself (the Pay Online link opens our payment provider's portal), does not book installations on its own and does not sell service online. Its purpose is to describe our internet, hosting, email and domain services, to let you ask, and to make it easy to call us.
2. Definitions
In this Policy, the following terms have the meanings below.
- "Site" means hdiss.net, including the plain-text versions of its pages, its llms.txt summary files, and any other page that links to this Policy.
- "Personal information" means information that identifies, relates to, describes or can reasonably be linked, directly or indirectly, to a particular individual or household, such as a name, telephone number, email address, the address of a property, or the content of a message.
- "Covered information" has the meaning given in NRS 603A.320: a first and last name, a home or other physical address that includes the name of a road and a city or town, an email address, a telephone number, a Social Security number, an identifier that allows a specific person to be contacted either physically or online, and any other information about a person collected through the Site and kept in a form that makes it personally identifiable.
- "Request" means any contact form, service-request form or call-back panel submission, any chat conversation in which you give your contact details, and any email you send us, through which you ask us a question, ask us to check an address or ask us to contact you.
- "YelloPost" means our website and marketing provider, which builds and manages the Site, operates its forms, mailer and chat assistant, and manages our online advertising and measurement on our behalf.
- "Service provider" means a company, including YelloPost, that processes personal information on our behalf to help us operate the Site and our business, and that is not permitted to use it for its own unrelated purposes.
- "Browser storage" means small pieces of information that the Site saves in your web browser using the browser's local storage or session storage features. It is similar in purpose to a cookie but is not sent to our servers with each page request.
- "Cookie" means a small text file placed in your browser by a website or by a third-party service loaded on a website.
3. Summary of our practices
This summary highlights key points. It is not a substitute for the full Policy, which controls.
- We collect the information you choose to send us when you ask a question or send an Address Check, plus limited technical information from your browser.
- We use it to answer you, look at whether our service can reach the address, schedule and perform installation and service work, keep business records, protect the Site from spam and abuse, and understand how people use the Site.
- Relay, our website chat assistant, is YelloPost AI, an automated assistant built and operated for us by YelloPost. It is a program, not a person. Messages you type into it are processed by automated technology to generate replies.
- Google Tag Manager, Google Analytics and Google Ads conversion tags load only after you make a choice in our privacy choices card. If you choose "Essential only," or your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, they do not load.
- Our forms are protected by Cloudflare Turnstile, a bot check that receives your IP address and browser information, and the Site is delivered through Cloudflare's network.
- Telephone numbers shown on the Site or in our ads may be tracking numbers that route to us, and calls may be recorded for quality and training after a notice at the start of the call.
- We do not sell covered information, and we do not share personal information with other companies for their own marketing.
- We share information with service providers who help us run the Site and our business, and when the law requires it.
- Anyone may ask us to see, correct or delete the personal information we hold about them. Nevada residents may also direct us not to sell their covered information, as Section 18 describes.
4. Information you provide to us
Most of the personal information we have comes directly from you. What we collect depends on how you contact us and what you choose to share.
Contact and service-request forms. Our forms ask for your name, telephone number and email address, the address we should check, the town and ZIP code, whether it is a home or a business, the plan you are thinking about, what internet service you use now, and a message. If you sent the form from a page about a particular service or area, the name of that page may be included. When you send a form, the Site also sends the address of the page you sent it from, so that we know what you were looking at. The forms do not ask for file uploads. If you want to send us a photo or video of the problem, you can email it to us at info@hdiss.net.
Before-you-go call-back panel. On desktop computers, some pages may show a short panel inviting you to leave your name and telephone number so that we can call you back, when your pointer leaves the top of the browser window. If you use it, it collects only what you enter. You can close it without providing anything.
Website chat assistant. When you chat with Relay, we receive the content of the conversation, including anything you type. Section 6 describes the chat in detail.
Emails. If you email us, we receive the contents of your message, your email address and anything you attach.
Calls and texts. If you call us, we receive your telephone number, the date and time, and whatever you choose to share, such as your name, the address to check and what you need. Calls may be recorded with notice, and the telephone number you called may be a tracking number, as Section 11 describes.
Information about other people. If you give us information about another person, such as a homeowner, landlord, tenant or property manager, please make sure you have their permission to do so.
Please do not send us Social Security numbers, driver's license numbers, bank account or payment card numbers, passwords, health information or other sensitive information through the Site, the chat or email. We do not need it to answer a question or check an address, and the Site does not accept payments (existing customers pay through the separate Pay Online portal linked from the Site, which is operated by our payment provider and has its own terms).
Service records. When we check an address, install or service a connection, or provide internet, hosting or email service, we record the service address, the name and contact details of the account holder, what we found about the path from our tower, the equipment installed, the plan, invoices and payments, and support requests, so that we can run the service and keep the records the HDISS Service Agreement requires. The content of your internet traffic is not something we read; we manage the network as our network management page describes.
5. Information collected automatically
Server and security logs. Like virtually all websites, the servers and network that deliver the Site receive technical information that your browser sends with each request, such as your IP address, browser and device type, the page requested, the referring page and the date and time. This information is used to deliver pages, keep the Site secure, diagnose problems and prevent abuse. When you send a form or use the chat, our systems may also record your IP address together with the result of our automated spam and abuse checks (see Section 7).
Analytics and advertising tags. If you choose "Accept all" in our privacy choices card, the Site loads Google Tag Manager, which loads Google Analytics and Google Ads conversion tags. These tools use cookies and similar technologies to collect information about your visit, such as the pages you view, how you arrived, how long you stayed, approximate location derived from your IP address, device and browser information, and whether you took actions such as tapping our telephone number, opening the chat or sending a Request. They do not load until you make a choice, and they never load if you choose "Essential only" or your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal. Section 9 explains these tools and your choices.
Browser storage. The Site uses browser storage to remember your choices and keep the Site working as you expect. Section 8 lists each use.
Third-party resources. Some parts of the Site, such as fonts and the bot check on our forms, are delivered by Google or Cloudflare, whose servers receive your IP address when your browser requests them. Section 10 describes them.
Call tracking. When you call a tracking number shown on the Site or in one of our ads, the call-tracking service records your telephone number, the number you dialed, the date, time and length of the call, and which ad or page the number belongs to. Section 11 explains call tracking and call recording.
6. Our website chat assistant
What it is. Relay is our website chat assistant. Relay is YelloPost AI, an automated assistant built and operated for us by YelloPost, our website and marketing provider. It is a program, not a person. It generates replies automatically based on what you type, using automated language technology.
How your messages are processed. The messages you type, together with the assistant's earlier replies in the same conversation and the address of the page you are on, are sent to YelloPost's systems, where YelloPost AI generates a reply. YelloPost may rely on its own technology providers to run that service; they process your messages only to produce the reply. By using the chat, you consent to this processing. If you do not want your messages processed this way, please call us at 775-575-9593 or use a contact form instead.
In your browser. The conversation is kept only in the open page. It is not saved in your browser storage, and it is cleared from your browser when you close or reload the page.
Contact details passed to us. If you give Relay your name and a telephone number or email address, the assistant prepares a Request containing your contact details, the address and plan you mention and a short summary of the conversation. That Request is emailed to us so that a person can follow up with you. If you gave an email address, you may also receive an automatic confirmation email.
Conversation transcripts. When you leave or close a page after sending at least one chat message, a transcript of the conversation, together with the page address, the date and time and your IP address, may be emailed to us and to YelloPost, so that we can monitor the quality of the assistant's answers, make sure Requests are not missed and protect the chat from abuse.
Abuse protection. To prevent abuse, the chat limits how many messages can be sent from one IP address in a period of time. It does this using counters linked to a coded (hashed) form of the IP address, which are kept temporarily.
What not to share. Please do not type sensitive information into the chat, such as driver's license numbers, financial account numbers, Social Security numbers or health information.
Accuracy and emergencies. Chat replies are general information and may be incomplete or wrong. They are not a statement that service is or is not available at your address, not a price beyond the published plan prices, and not a commitment to install or arrive at a particular time. Relay cannot report an outage or reach a technician. If you need help with your service now, call us at 775-575-9593, and if anyone is in danger, call 911 first. Our Terms of Use explain this further.
7. Automated screening, spam and duplicate protection
Bot check. Our forms are protected by Cloudflare Turnstile, a service that checks whether a submission is likely to come from a person rather than an automated program. It usually runs in the background without asking you to do anything. To do this, Cloudflare receives your IP address and information about your browser and device, and processes it under its own privacy policy.
Screening. To protect us and our customers, Requests sent through the Site and the chat are automatically screened for spam, abuse and unsolicited sales pitches. Screening is performed by automated rules and tools operated for us by YelloPost, and some messages may be analyzed by an automated classification service to decide whether they look like a sales pitch. A message that the screening flags may be held for review by a person at YelloPost before it is delivered to us. Screening is used only to decide how a message is handled. It is not used to make decisions that produce legal or similarly significant effects about you.
Duplicate protection. To avoid sending us the same Request twice, for example after a double click, the Site keeps a short record of each successful form Request, filed under a coded (hashed) value made from your email address and telephone number and containing the time and the message text. If the same person sends the same Request again within a few minutes, the second copy is not sent, and a log line noting the skipped duplicate (including the email address or telephone number and the time) is written. The chat keeps a similar coded marker so that one chat Request is emailed only once. These records are kept on the server outside the public website.
Delivery log. YelloPost keeps a log that records only the time, the website and whether a Request came from a form or the chat, so that it can confirm Requests are being delivered. It does not contain your name or contact details.
If your Request is held. If you sent a genuine Request and have not heard back, please call us at 775-575-9593.
8. Browser storage and cookies we use
The Site itself does not use browser storage to track you across other websites. It uses browser storage only for the following purposes, which are necessary for the Site to work as you expect or to remember choices you have made:
- Local storage: your privacy choice ("Accept all" or "Essential only"), so that the privacy choices card does not reappear on every page.
- Local storage: your accessibility menu settings, such as text size or contrast, if you use the accessibility menu.
- Local storage: whether you closed the accessibility button or the chat button, so that it stays closed until you restore it.
- Session storage: whether you have already sent a Request or given your contact details in the chat during this visit, so that we do not count or ask for it twice and do not show you the call-back panel afterward.
- Session storage: whether the call-back panel has already been shown during this visit, so that it appears at most once.
Information in local storage stays in your browser until you clear it. Session storage is cleared when you close the browser tab. You can clear browser storage and cookies at any time through your browser settings. If you do, the Site will treat you as a new visitor, show the privacy choices card again and forget your accessibility settings.
Cookies placed by Google Tag Manager and the tools it loads, and any cookies Cloudflare uses to deliver the Site or run the bot check are placed by those companies, not by the Site itself. They are described in Sections 9 and 10.
9. Analytics, advertising measurement and your privacy choices
The privacy choices card. On your first visit, a card titled "Your privacy" appears. It explains that we use cookies to run the Site and to see which pages help people, and it offers two choices: "Accept all" and "Essential only." You can reopen it at any time with the "Privacy choices" button in the footer of every page and change your mind.
Nothing loads until you choose. The Site does not load Google Tag Manager, Google Analytics or Google Ads conversion tags until you have made a choice in the card. If you choose "Accept all," the Site loads Google Tag Manager, which manages the loading of Google Analytics (GA4), which helps us understand how visitors use the Site, and Google Ads conversion tags, which help us understand whether our online advertising leads to calls and Requests. These tools set cookies and collect information about your visit and actions on the Site, which Google processes. Google may combine that information with other information it holds about you, such as information associated with your Google account, according to Google's own policies and your Google settings.
Essential only. If you choose "Essential only," the Site does not load any analytics or advertising tag on that or later pages. Your choice is remembered in browser storage (Section 8) until you change it or clear your browser storage. The Site continues to work, including the forms, the chat and the click-to-call links. Cookies that Google set during an earlier visit, if you accepted them then, stay in your browser until they expire or you delete them.
Global Privacy Control. If your browser or a browser extension sends a Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal, the Site honors it. We treat the signal as if you had chosen "Essential only": the analytics and advertising tags do not load, and the signal is also treated as a request not to sell your covered information under Section 18. You do not need to do anything else.
Tracking over time and across websites. If you choose "Accept all," Google may collect information about your online activities over time and across different websites, including the Site. Google also receives your IP address when your browser loads Google Fonts, and Cloudflare receives it when it delivers the Site or runs the bot check (Section 10), whatever you choose in the privacy choices card.
Google's controls. You can learn about Google's practices and choices at policies.google.com and control ad personalization in your Google account settings. Google also offers a browser add-on for opting out of Google Analytics.
Browser-level controls. Most browsers let you block or delete cookies and browser storage, and some offer built-in tracking protection. Blocking all storage may cause parts of the Site, such as remembering your privacy choice, to stop working.
10. Third-party resources that receive your IP address
Some content on the Site is loaded from third-party servers. When your browser requests it, the third party receives your IP address and standard technical information from your browser, and processes it under its own privacy policy. These resources are:
- Google Fonts, which provides the typefaces used on the Site.
- Google Tag Manager, Google Analytics and Google Ads conversion tags, only if you choose "Accept all" (Section 9).
- Cloudflare, which delivers and protects the Site through its content delivery network and runs the Turnstile bot check on our forms (Section 7).
The Site also links to other websites, such as Google Maps directions, review platforms and our social media pages. Those websites receive information from your browser only if you click a link and visit them. See Section 22.
11. Telephone calls and call recording
Tracking numbers. Some of the telephone numbers shown on the Site, in our online ads or in our business listings may be tracking numbers. A tracking number is a telephone number that routes to our regular line and lets us see which ad, listing or page led to the call. When you call one, the call-tracking service records your telephone number, the number you dialed, the date, time and length of the call, and the source of the number. We use this to measure our advertising and to make sure calls are answered. Whichever number you dial, you reach us.
Call recording. Calls to our tracking numbers, and some calls to our main line, may be recorded for quality and training purposes. Nevada requires the consent of all parties to record a telephone call (NRS 200.620). For that reason, a recorded line plays a notice at the start of the call telling you that the call may be recorded. Continuing the call after the notice is your consent to the recording. If you would rather not be recorded, tell us at the start of the call and we will honor that request. Recordings are kept by the call-tracking service and by us for the period described in Section 16.
Click-to-call links. Tapping a telephone number or a text link on the Site opens your device's phone app. The Site may record that you tapped the link, as an action in the measurement tools described in Section 9, only if you chose "Accept all." Your device and carrier handle the call under their own terms.
12. How we use personal information
We use personal information for the following purposes:
- Responding to Requests. To answer your questions, call or email you back, and have a person look at the path from our nearest tower to the address you gave us.
- Installing and providing service. To schedule a site visit and installation, find the property, set up and support your connection, email or hosting, and follow up on service calls.
- Billing and records. To prepare invoices, take payments through our payment provider's portal, keep the account and equipment records the HDISS Service Agreement requires, and handle billing questions sent to billing@hdiss.net.
- Confirmations and service communications. To send you an automatic confirmation of your Request if you gave us an email address, and to communicate with you about your address check, installation appointment or service.
- Quality and delivery monitoring. To confirm that Requests from the Site reach us, that the forms and chat work properly, that calls are answered, and that the chat's answers are accurate and helpful.
- Measurement and improvement. To understand which pages, services, areas and advertisements lead people to contact us, and to improve the Site, our content, our advertising and our customer service.
- Security and abuse prevention. To protect the Site, our forms, our chat, our telephone lines, us and our customers against spam, fraud, unsolicited sales pitches and other abuse.
- Legal and business purposes. To keep business, tax, accounting and insurance records, comply with legal obligations, respond to lawful requests, establish or defend legal claims, enforce our Terms of Use, and in connection with a business transfer described in Section 13.
We do not use personal information for purposes that are materially different from those described above without telling you and, where the law requires it, asking for your consent.
13. How we share personal information
We do not sell covered information, and we do not share personal information with other companies for their own marketing. We share personal information only as described below.
Service providers. We share personal information with service providers that perform services for us and are expected to keep it confidential and use it only to provide their services to us. They include:
- YelloPost, our website and marketing provider, which builds and manages the Site, operates our forms, mailer, chat assistant and the screening described in Section 7, receives copies of Request notifications and chat transcripts so that it can monitor delivery and quality, keeps the delivery log, and manages our online advertising and measurement.
- The technology providers YelloPost relies on to run YelloPost AI, which process chat messages only to generate replies.
- Our hosting provider and Cloudflare, which store and deliver the Site and keep its server and network logs.
- The email service through which the Site sends Request notifications to us and confirmation emails to you, and the provider of our business email account, which stores the messages we receive.
- Our call-tracking and telephone service providers, which route and record calls as described in Section 11.
- Google, for fonts and, only if you choose "Accept all," Google Tag Manager, Google Analytics and Google Ads conversion tags.
- Providers of the business tools we use to schedule visits, prepare invoices, take payments (including the Pay Online portal operated by our payment provider) and keep records, which process information as needed to provide those services to us.
Property owners and managers. If a tenant, property manager or other person asks us to install or service a connection at a property, we may share information about the installation, the service and the invoice with the owner or manager who authorizes or pays for it.
Legal and compliance. We may disclose information when we believe in good faith that disclosure is required by law, regulation, subpoena, court order or other legal process; to respond to lawful requests from government authorities; to establish, exercise or defend legal claims; to enforce our agreements; or to protect the rights, property or safety of our customers, the public or us.
Business transfers. If we are involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, sale of all or part of our business or assets, or a similar transaction, personal information may be disclosed to the parties involved and transferred as part of the transaction, subject to this Policy or to a notice we provide.
With your direction or consent. We may share information with anyone else when you ask us to or give us permission, for example with your insurance company or a contractor you are working with.
Aggregated or de-identified information. We may use and share information that has been aggregated or de-identified so that it no longer reasonably identifies any individual, for example the number of Requests we receive about a type of service or from a particular area.
14. Sale of covered information and advertising measurement
We do not sell covered information. Under Nevada law, a "sale" means exchanging covered information for money with a person who then licenses or sells it to additional persons (NRS 603A.333). We have never done that, and we do not plan to. Sharing information with the service providers in Section 13 so that they can perform services for us is not a sale.
Advertising measurement. If you choose "Accept all," the Google tags described in Section 9 may allow Google to associate your visit and actions on the Site with our advertising and with information Google holds. We do not receive money for this, and we do not consider it a sale under Nevada law, but we describe it here so that you can decide. You can keep it from happening by choosing "Essential only" through the "Privacy choices" button in the footer, by using a browser that sends a Global Privacy Control signal, or by emailing us as described in Section 18. Apart from these Google tools, we do not share personal information for targeted advertising.
15. Emails the Site sends
Notifications to us. Every Request sent through the Site's forms or the call-back panel, and every chat Request in which you give your contact details, generates an email to us containing the information described in Sections 4 and 6. If you gave an email address, the notification is set so that our reply goes to you.
Copies to our website provider. YelloPost receives copies of Request notifications so that it can monitor whether Requests are delivered and handled and whether the forms work properly.
Confirmation to you. If you include an email address, you may receive an automatic confirmation email from High Desert Internet Services saying that a person will look at the path from our nearest tower and call you. It never says whether service is available. It is sent through our website provider's email service. If you reply to it, your reply comes to us.
No marketing lists. We do not add you to a marketing email list because you sent a Request. If we ever send marketing email, it will include a way to unsubscribe.
16. How long we keep personal information
We keep personal information for as long as reasonably needed for the purposes described in this Policy, and then delete it or de-identify it. In deciding how long to keep information, we consider:
- Whether you became a customer, and the time needed to answer later questions about the work we did at your property, including warranty and follow-up questions.
- Records of accounts, equipment, invoices and service work performed, which we keep for business, tax, accounting and insurance purposes.
- Photographs and notes from site visits and installations, which we keep so that we can compare the condition of a line over time and document the work.
- Whether the information is relevant to an actual or potential dispute, claim, insurance matter or legal proceeding.
- The need to protect against spam, fraud and abuse.
- Whether you have asked us to delete the information and whether we are permitted or required to keep it.
Request emails and chat Requests are kept in our email account and records under these criteria. Call recordings and call-tracking records are kept by the call-tracking service for a limited period under its settings and by us for as long as needed for quality, training and record purposes. Text message conversations are kept on our phone system. Duplicate-protection records and chat rate-limit counters are short-lived technical records used for the purposes in Sections 6 and 7. Server logs are kept for a limited period under our hosting provider's and Cloudflare's settings. Information in your browser storage stays in your browser until you clear it. Information collected by Google is kept according to its retention settings and policies. Backup copies may persist for a limited time after deletion from active systems until they are overwritten in the normal course.
17. How we protect personal information
Nevada law requires a business that keeps records containing personal information to implement and maintain reasonable security measures to protect those records from unauthorized access, acquisition, destruction, use, modification or disclosure (NRS 603A.210). We use reasonable administrative, technical and physical safeguards designed to do that, appropriate to the nature of the information. These include:
- Encrypted connections (HTTPS) between your browser and the Site, delivered through Cloudflare's network.
- Encrypted connections when the Site sends Request emails through our website provider's email service.
- Keeping duplicate-protection records and similar files outside the public part of the website.
- Access controls on the systems that hold personal information, and limiting access to people who need it.
- Requiring our service providers to keep personal information confidential.
- Bot checks and automated spam and abuse screening on our forms and chat.
- Keeping customer records in business tools with password protection and limited access, rather than on the public Site.
No method of transmitting information over the internet, and no method of electronic storage, is completely secure, and we cannot promise absolute security. Email in particular is not always encrypted in transit. Please keep this in mind when deciding what to send us, and call us if you prefer.
Security incidents. If we learn of a breach of the security of a system that holds personal information about you, we will notify you as required by NRS 603A.220, in the most expedient time possible and without unreasonable delay, and by any other law that applies. If you believe your information has been compromised through the Site, please contact us right away at info@hdiss.net or 775-575-9593.
18. Your Nevada privacy rights
Designated request address. Under NRS 603A.345 our designated request address is info@hdiss.net (subject line "Privacy"), or by mail to High Desert Internet Services, Billing Dept., PO Box 11353, Reno, Nevada 89510. We respond to a verified request within 60 days, and may extend that once by up to 30 days when reasonably necessary, in which case we tell you.
Anyone can ask. Whether or not a particular privacy law applies to us, you may ask us what personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it or delete it, or ask us to stop contacting you, using the methods in this Section, and we will consider your request in good faith and honor it where we reasonably can.
Nevada's online privacy law. Nevada's online privacy law (NRS 603A.300 to 603A.360) applies to operators of commercial websites that collect covered information from consumers who live in Nevada. It requires an operator to post a privacy notice containing certain information (NRS 603A.340), and it gives a Nevada consumer the right to submit a verified request directing the operator not to sell the consumer's covered information (NRS 603A.345). This Section, together with the rest of this Policy, is our notice under that law.
Categories of covered information we collect. Through the Site we collect the following categories of covered information about consumers who visit it:
- First and last name.
- The physical address of the property that needs work, when you give it to us.
- Email address.
- Telephone number.
- Identifiers that allow a specific person to be contacted either physically or online, such as an IP address when it is combined with other information.
- Any other personally identifiable information you choose to include in a form, the chat, an email, such as a description of the problem at your property.
Categories of third parties. We may share covered information with the categories of service providers and other recipients described in Section 13. We do not share covered information with any third party for that third party's own marketing.
Reviewing and requesting changes. You may review and request changes to any covered information we have collected about you through the Site by emailing info@hdiss.net with the subject line "Privacy Request," by calling or texting 775-575-9593, or by writing to us at the mailing address we will provide on request. Please tell us what you are asking for and how we can reach you.
Notice of changes. We explain how we notify you of changes to this Policy in Section 25. The effective date of this Policy is shown at the top of this page.
Third-party collection over time and across websites. If you choose "Accept all" in the privacy choices card, Google may collect personally identifiable information about your online activities over time and across different websites when you use the Site, as described in Section 9. If you choose "Essential only," or your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, no such collection happens through the Site.
Your right to direct us not to sell. We do not sell covered information, so there is nothing to opt out of. Even so, you may submit a verified request directing us not to sell your covered information, and we will honor it. Our designated request address is info@hdiss.net. Please use the subject line "Nevada Privacy Request" and tell us your name and the telephone number or email address you used with us. As NRS 603A.345 requires, we will respond within 60 days after we receive a verified request. If we reasonably need more time, we may extend that period by up to 30 days, and we will tell you if we do. A Global Privacy Control signal from your browser is also treated as a request not to sell.
Verification. To protect your information, we will take reasonable steps to verify your identity before acting on a request to know, correct, delete or not sell, usually by confirming details you gave us when you contacted us, such as your name, telephone number, email address or the property address. We use the information you provide in a request only to verify and respond to it.
Limits. We may keep information that we are required or permitted by law to retain, such as records of accounts, invoices and service work performed, insurance records, and tax and business records, even after a deletion request, and we will explain the reason if we cannot fulfill all or part of a request.
No discrimination. We will not deny you service, charge you a different price or provide a different level of service because you exercised a privacy right.
19. Visitors from other states and countries
The Site is intended for people in Northern Nevada and elsewhere in the United States who want internet, hosting, email or domain service in the areas we work in. If you live in another state, your state's privacy law may give you rights to know, access, correct or delete personal information, to opt out of its sale, sharing or use for targeted advertising, or to make other requests. You may send any such request to info@hdiss.net with the subject line "Privacy Request," and we will consider it in good faith and honor it where the law or our practices allow. If you access the Site from outside the United States, the laws of your country may give you additional rights, and you may send the same request. The Site is not designed to offer services outside the United States.
20. Children
The Site is intended for adults and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 years of age, consistent with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child under 13 has given us personal information through the Site, contact us and we will delete it.
We do not sell or share for targeted advertising the personal information of consumers we know to be under 16 years of age.
21. Your contact preferences
When you send a Request, you ask us to contact you about it. You can tell us at any time to stop contacting you, or to stop contacting you by a particular method, by replying to our email or text, calling 775-575-9593 or emailing info@hdiss.net. Agreeing to be contacted is never a condition of having an address checked or of service.
22. Links, reviews and social media
The Site contains links to third-party websites and services, including Google, review platforms and our social media pages. When you follow a link, the third party's own privacy policy governs what it collects. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of websites we do not operate, and we encourage you to read their policies.
Reviews. The Site does not currently display customer reviews. If reviews are ever shown on the Site, they will be shown as customers posted them publicly, identified by the name those customers chose to post under. If you post a review on a third-party platform, what you post is public and is governed by that platform's terms.
23. Automated tools
Automated technology is used on the Site in three ways: to generate replies from Relay, our website chat assistant (Section 6), to verify that form submissions come from people (Section 7) and, for some messages, to help screen out unsolicited sales pitches (Section 7). None of them is used to make decisions that produce legal or similarly significant effects about you, such as decisions about credit, housing, employment or access to our services. Whether our service can reach an address is decided by a person at High Desert, after looking, and where needed by a technician at the property, not by the Site or the chat assistant.
24. Where your information is processed
We are located in Reno, Nevada, and the Site is hosted on servers in the United States and delivered through Cloudflare's global network. Our service providers may process information in the United States and, in some cases, in other countries where they or their subcontractors operate. The Site is intended for people in the United States. If you access it from outside the United States, your information will be transferred to and processed in the United States, where privacy laws may differ from those in your country.
25. Changes to this Policy
We may update this Policy from time to time to reflect changes in the Site, our business, our service providers or the law. When we do, we will post the updated Policy on this page and change the effective date at the top. If we make material changes, we will also provide a notice on the Site, such as near the top of this page, for a reasonable period. Changes take effect when posted, unless the notice says otherwise. Your continued use of the Site after a change takes effect means that the updated Policy applies to your use. Where the law requires it, we will ask for your consent before applying a materially less protective change to information we collected earlier.
26. Contact
If you have questions or concerns about this Policy or our privacy practices, or you want to make a privacy request, contact us. You can also reach us through our contact page.
