IMAP
IMAP shows you the same mailbox on every device, because the mail stays on the server. High Desert publishes POP3 settings for hdiss.net mail and does not publish IMAP settings.

What is IMAP?
The current specification is RFC 9051, version 4rev2. With IMAP a phone, a laptop and webmail all look at one set of messages. Read it on the phone and it shows as read everywhere. Delete it and it is gone everywhere. The server holds the mail, so a lost device does not mean lost messages, and the mailbox must be big enough to keep what you do not delete.
IMAP is for reading and managing mail. Sending still goes out through SMTP.
Is it available for hdiss.net mail?
The company's published instructions use POP3, with pop.hdiss.net for incoming mail and smtp.hdiss.net for outgoing, and the service agreement says email must be downloaded to a desktop mail program. No IMAP server name, port or setting is published, and this site does not state that one exists. If you want your mail on several devices, ask on 775-575-9593 what is possible for your account.
The same question comes up when you move to Gmail, Outlook.com or your own domain host, which do use IMAP. A web mail option at hdissmail.hdiss.net/mail/ can reach your hdiss.net mailbox in a browser from any device.
What should I do about it?
If you only need to check mail from more than one place, webmail is the simple route, described under webmail. If you use POP3 on one computer and want the same mail on a phone, the guide POP3 vs IMAP shows the choices, including leaving a copy on the server, which depends on the server settings.
Keep a backup of anything you cannot lose; see backing up your email. Do not give your mailbox password to anyone who calls or emails you.
