What are the hdiss.net email server settings?

Incoming mail uses the POP3 server pop.hdiss.net, outgoing mail uses the SMTP server smtp.hdiss.net, and your username is your full email address. Port numbers and the type of encryption are not published, so call 775-575-9593 if your app asks for them.

These are the settings the company publishes for its customer email. They go into any mail program, and the help center has an article for each popular app.

What do I type into my mail app?

Choose to add an account and pick the option for a POP3 or "other" account. For the incoming server enter pop.hdiss.net. For the outgoing server enter smtp.hdiss.net. For the username enter the whole address, such as name@yourdomain.com, and then your password. Webmail is separate: it opens in a browser at the address on the webmail page.

Test by sending yourself a message and checking that it arrives. Do the same from a second device if you use one, because POP3 behaves differently from the IMAP accounts many people know.

Why not publish the ports?

The company has published the server names and the username rule, and nothing more. This site will not guess a port or a security type, because a wrong guess leads to a mail app that cannot connect or sends your password in the wrong way. If your app insists on a port or on SSL or TLS, call and the office will read them out.

The articles on cannot send but can receive and keeps asking for a password cover the usual snags.

What does POP3 mean for me?

POP3 normally downloads messages to the device that asks for them. The service agreement says mail processed by the company's server must be downloaded to a desktop application, and that the company makes no promise about mail kept on the server (Section 4.B). So the copy on your device is the one that counts. Back it up; see backing up your email.

For the difference in plain words, read POP3 versus IMAP. For a phone or tablet, use the article for your device, such as email on an iPhone or iPad. Email is for customers only.

Can we reach your roof?

Send the address. A person looks at the path from our nearest tower and calls you back: clear, not clear, or we need to look at it from your roof.

One of your roof looking toward the ridge, and one of any old dish or antenna, helps us check the path. Phone photos are fine.

By sending this you agree that we may call or email you about this address. A technician never comes out until you say yes.
