Put an Epson printer on your Wi-Fi

On the printer's control panel open Wi-Fi Setup, choose the Wi-Fi Setup Wizard, pick your network and type the password. Epson's help pages describe this path with small differences by model. The Smart Panel app is an alternative on some models, and a network report confirms the result.

Epson prints the same idea on many pages: the control panel has a wizard that lists networks. Some models use a touchscreen and some use arrow keys. This page follows the pattern and tells you what to do if your name does not show.

Steps

  1. Have the details ready

Wi-Fi name and password. Passwords are case sensitive.

  2. Open Wi-Fi Setup on the printer

From the home screen, find Wi-Fi Setup. Touchscreen models use icons, and other models use arrow keys and OK.

  3. Choose Wi-Fi Setup Wizard

The printer scans and lists networks.

  4. Pick your network

If it is missing, choose the manual option, often labelled Other SSIDs or Enter manually, and type the name.

  5. Type the password

The printer shows a success message or a Wi-Fi icon when connected.

  6. Print a network connection report

Epson's pages say you can print one to confirm.

  7. Try WPS or Smart Panel if needed

Some models have a WPS push button option. The Smart Panel app on your phone can also guide setup on some models.

What if my network name does not show?

Check that the router offers a 2.4 GHz name and does not hide it. Move the printer closer. See splitting 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz.

How do I find my router's name if I forgot?

It is usually on the label on the router, if you never changed it. Otherwise read finding your router's address to sign in and look.

The printer went offline later.

Read printer shows offline after a new router. A fixed address helps too; see giving a device a fixed address.

A blinking light usually means the printer is still searching, or that it lost the network after joining. Check the password, which Epson's pages note is case sensitive. Check that the router is on and has internet, since some printers report failure when the router has no link. Then run the wizard again from the start.

If the printer connects and then drops overnight, power saving on the printer or the router may be to blame. Print a network connection report in the morning and note whether it still shows a signal. A reservation on the router keeps the same address, which helps the computer find it. The printer-offline page lists the other checks.
