What is NTIA?

NTIA sits inside the Department of Commerce and runs BEAD, the grant program covered in BEAD. Each state sends in a proposal, and NTIA reviews it. For Nevada, NTIA approved the first final proposal on January 16, 2025. Its restructuring policy notice of June 6, 2025 rescinded earlier approvals and required a new round, and the Governor announced approval of the revised plan on January 8, 2026. NTIA's own overview of Nevada's plan, updated January 6, 2026, lists total deployment cost of $170,650,263 against a $416,666,230 allocation, per the project's research notes.

The overview is marked subject to change pending further review.

The agency also advises the White House on telecommunications policy, though its role in BEAD is the part most Nevadans meet.

Why does it matter on a fixed wireless connection?

NTIA decides a state's plan, and the state office, Nevada OSIT, chooses the subgrantees. Neither one provides your internet. Programs of this size change as rules change, which is why this site calls all Nevada projects provisional.

High Desert is not described as a subgrantee. See subgrantee and the guide High Speed NV and rural roads.

What should I do about it?

You do not deal with NTIA directly for service. If you want to follow the program, use the state's pages through High Speed NV. For internet today, use Check my address.

A person answers 775-575-9593 from 9 to 5 every day, and calls back with what the path from the nearest tower looks like.

Official announcements carry dates, so read the date on any story about the program. Older stories, such as the 2025 approval, were overtaken by later notices.

One of your roof looking toward the ridge, and one of any old dish or antenna, helps us check the path. Phone photos are fine.

By sending this you agree that we may call or email you about this address. A technician never comes out until you say yes.
